I must say, I have the entire Playmates Simpsons collection, and McF would have to make a mighty new/unique/original Simpsons toy to get me back into collecting Simpsons merch again. That said, I am most interested in seeing what transpires tomorrow...
I am always interested in hearing what is coming down the pike from TMP - even if it doesn't interest me collection wise.
I read and look at the Sports figures (even those god-awful NASCAR lumps of plastic [img]wink.gif[/img] ) and always impressed with the likeness and workmanship in them, just don't ever consider buying them as I don't follow any sport. How sad is that?

I left Goff a message to see if we can't start hooking up the huge Simpsons collector base with Mcfarlane. It's definitely a whole new market segment for them.
As a huge Simpsons collector, this is all very interesting. It is doable, and there is still a fairly cohesive network out there, that will allow McToys to take advantage of the recent WOS line. What I mean is that those collectors who were sparked only by the Simpsons, or only became part of the action figure community because of the SImpsons, haven't completely dropped out yet. Had they waited a few more months, you couldn't say that.
And I'd be all for some very cool Itchy and Scratchy dioramas. :-)

while everything you said is true MWC, the trend I see out of McF recently is similar (or identical) characters, different scales... That's kinda what I am expecting to see in the future - a 7" Homer, Marge, etc.
Hmmm, well, it is definitely the coolest license McToys has had in quite a while, and I am huge Simpsons fan, but considering I have a complete MOC/MIB collection of the Playmates figures, it is kinda hard for me to get excited about this. However, I will probably still buy the suckers, even though I don't have the room for any more Simpsons gear.

This isn't a step forward for McFarlane Toys, it's more like a leap backwards.
How can they go from a line like Dragons, and Spawn Series 27 and make Simpsons? What a waste of time, effort, money, and talent.
I saw the previews for Sin City yesterday. It looks extremely well done. I was expecting an annoucement of figure from that movie.

Sadly, I think this has got to be one of the most pointless licenses McF has ever snagged. I'm sure the figs will be great and all, but it feels like a major point has been overlooked:
The SIMPSONS sell The Simpsons....what's the point in McFARLANE having a hand in that? You could take a dump that looks kind of like Bart Simpson and it would STILL sell because of how popular The Simpsons are.
McFarlane is known to us for ORIGINALITY and pushing boundaries, or doing a "new take" on an old theme. I just can't see a way that the Simpsons figures McF makes will be any more or less significant than what's already out there.
It seems like the reasoning behind the decision to go after this license is extrememly disconnected from the fanbase. Saying McFarlane is making Simpsons figures sounds about as exciting as saying anyone else is making them [img]confused.gif[/img]
